2. The Lovers Are Losing
3. Better Than This
4. You Haven't Told Me Anything
5. Perfect Symmetry
6. You Don't See Me
7. Again And Again
8. Playing Along
9. Pretend That You're Alone
10. Black Burning Heart
11. Love Is The End

Better than This

Is this what you meant?
Is this what you dreamed of?
When you were making your plans, shaking the dust off?

Do you feel like
You and I belong? (oh-ah-oh)
Just keep your eyes on the road
And nothing can go wrong

You can do so much better than this
You can do so much better than this
(pa pa pa pau!)

I've been checking my sums
Oh where did the time go?
Holding my photograph up to the window

Through the paper a refracted sun (oh-ah-oh)
I can see all the things I wish I had done

You can hang your hopes on the medicine (?)
You can put your face in the falling (?)

You can tell yourself you can do your best
You could do so much better than this

Get a grip on yourself
Get a grip on yourself
Can I be something with you're too late
And you wouldn't buy it anyway

Just a photograh from the wrong time
'Cause there is no false stop (?) holding your hand
You see yourslef in the every square
Must be someone else using your name

And everyone will be the same
And every one will go
'Cause everywhere you see your name
And every shop window is better than this

You can do so much better than this
You can do so much better than this
You could do so much better than this

Love is the End (não liguem ao nome que a Antena 3 refere, esta música chama-se "Love is the End", mas o erro já foi corrigido)

Keane - soon on the road

Hello again. It's been a very busy few weeks. We flew out to LA, where we waited for baggage with Engelbert Humperdinck, experienced My-First-Earthquake, watched the Ting Tings, laughed heartily with Bret Easton Ellis, and sat open-mouthed as we witnessed Jon Brion improvise his way through a seamless Pet Sounds-in-five-minutes medley at his legendary Largo night. We also finished our album, and watched Fried Green Tomatoes with the sound off, twice.

Got back to the UK a couple of weeks ago, recorded two b-sides, went back to Berlin and forgot to sleep for three days, watched Flight Of The Conchords a lot and started rehearsing the songs for playing live.

I also finally got round to listening to a CD I was given at the Haugesund Festival last year. It's by a Norwegian songwriter called Susanne Sundf?>, and I have to say it's truly brilliant. Her songs are utterly gorgeous, and I recommend giving the album a spin if you don't already know her music.

Anyway, we'll soon be out on the road, which is deeply exciting. I'm desperate for people to hear the new songs. My current favourites are You Haven't Told Me Anything and Perfect Symmetry, but I'm pretty fickle and keep changing my mind. It's funny - it's been so thrilling and intense making this record that I almost don't want to let it go. It seems strange to hear our own music on the radio. It reminds me of the first time we heard Everybody's Changing on Jo Whiley's show - incredibly exciting but also a little scary! I hope that as we travel around over the next few months we'll hear other people sing these songs along with us - that, for me, is the biggest thrill of all.

Keane - The lovers are losing

I dreamed I was drowning
in the river Thames
I dreamed I had nothing at all
nothing but my own skin

Slipped away from your open hand
into the river
Saw your face looking back at me
I saw my past
and I saw my future

You take the pieces of the dreams that you have
cause you don't like the way they seem to be going
You cut them up and spread them out on the floor
You're full of hope as you begin rearranging
Put it all back together
but anyway you look at things and try
The lovers are losing

I dreamed I was watching
a young lover's dance
I reached out to touch your hand
but I was watching from a distance

We cling to love like a skidding car
clinched to the corner
I try to hold on to what we are
the more I squeeze the quicker we all are

You take the pieces of the dreams that you have
cause you don't like the way they seem to be going
You cut them up and spread them out on the floor
you're full of hope as you begin rearranging
Put it all back together
but anyway you look at things and try
The lovers are losing

I dreamed I had nothing at all (nothing at all)
I dreamed I had nothing at all

You take the pieces of the dreams that you have
cause you don't like the way they seem to be going
You cut them up and spread them out on the floor
You're full of hope as you begin rearranging
Put it all back together
but in the final reckoning
We're trying
The lovers are losing

SPIRALLING HITS N.AMERICAN DOWNLOAD STORES

SPIRALLING HITS N.AMERICAN DOWNLOAD STORES

Following its release to UK download stores last week, Spiralling is now available from North American digital retailers. Buy it from the US iTunes store here and the Canadian one here. You can, of course, still get it from the UK iTunes store here.

So, have any of you folks made any good, creative home-made YouTube videos for the song yet? We'd like to see them (and we're really hoping for more than just a picture with the song playing behind it...)

Q.Tim.Is there any narrative link between the songs?

Listen:
http://keanemusic.com/archive-comment.php?rnd=WA3NuhaF5IAD7c1YhDfd2fSsvahsQXqI%2F0n1qEQaJUc%3D

Tim says:
I think there are a few different themes running through the record. It's definitely not anything close to being a concept album. I felt like in some ways 'Under The Iron Sea' was almost a concept album in that it had that sort of under the sea darkness and I felt like it occupied a particular space throughout the record really. And this one is much more varied.

There are themes that are repeated; things about the 21st century obsession with fame and being a star, y'know everyone trying to be a star and wanting to like that sort of 15 minutes of fame thing. But then on the other hand one of the other themes is much more about war, I suppose, but trying to approach that from a very sympathetic, human point of view. Those two themes, for example, don't really overlap or particularly y'know... one of them in a way is quite frivolous and the other is obviously quite a fundamental, human and very serious thing. So I don't feel like there's one story on this record, I feel like it's a multi-coloured story.

What I hope with this record is that every song has a sense of hope to it. I feel like even the songs that are not necessarily all sunny and positive still have the kind of human sympathy and positivity to them. I hope that every song is uplifting and inspiring and positive, even if it's trying to talk about something which is not necessarily particularly happy. And for me a lot of my favourite songs are like that. I don't think a record has to leave you feeling thoroughly bleak and depressed in order for it to be profound and touching.

I definitely feel like this record is much more uplifting and much more exciting and has this hugely positive energy to every song. And I think that the overall record will have that same effect.

"Closer Now":Tom Chaplin allows the use of his lyrics

Tom Chaplin autorizou Annie Lennox a mudar o título da música "Closer Now" para "Pattern of My Life".

KEANE-"Closer Now"

Video by Jaraye

Closer Now Lyrics
Artist(Band):Keane

I like to wake alone
To lie and turn to stone
Comfort me, come to me
I won't go on
I like to walk along
To keep my head screwed on
Well I'm the best, so well done me
I won't go on

Believing, believing
I believe
You might turn from your love, wait around

If I go then I'm alone
If I stay then it will mean
Waiting on my own
It's the pattern of my life
When you care and you cannot feel
And you know that it's for real
So you leave me on my own
To live the pattern of my life

Make time to be
All this and more for me
Well you're the best so well done you
I won't go on

Believing, believing
I believe
You might turn from your love, wait around

If I go then I'm alone
If I stay then it will mean
Waiting on my own
It's the pattern of my life
When you care and you cannot feel
When you know that it's for real
So you leave me on my own
To live the pattern of my life

I believe
You might stumble and come closer now

If I go then I'm alone
If I stay here it will mean
Waiting on my own
It's the pattern of my life
When you care and you cannot feel
When you know that it's for real
You just leave me on my own
To live the pattern of my life

Woah...
You might stumble and come closer now

Spiralling

Ooo!
Ooo!

I'm waiting for my moment to come
I'm waiting for the movie to begin
I'm waiting for a revelation
I'm waiting for someone to count me in

Cos now I only see my dreams, in everything I touch
Feel their cold hands on, everything that I love
Cold like some, magnificant skyline
Out of my reach, but always in my eyeline now

We're tumbling down
We're spiralling
Tied up to the ground
We're spiralling

I fashioned you from jewels and stone
I made you in the image of myself
I gave you everything you wanted
So you would never know anything else

But everytime I reach for you, you slip through my fingers
Into cold sunlight, laughing at the things that
I had planned, the map of my world gets
Smaller as I sit here, pulling at the loose threads now

We're tumbling down
We're spiralling
Tied up to the ground
We're spiralling
When we fall in love
We're just falling
In love with ourselves
We're spiralling

Did you wanna be a winner?
Did you wanna be an icon?
Did you wanna be famous?
Did you wanna be the president?
Did you wanna start a war?
Did you wanna have a family?
Did you wanna be in love?
Did you wanna be in love?

I never saw the light
I never saw the light
I waited up all night
But I never saw the light

When we fall in love
We're just falling
In love with ourselves
We're spiralling
We're tumbling down
We're spiralling
Tied up to the ground
We're spiralling

Ooo!
Ooo!
